WiMAX can provide broadband wireless access (BWA) up to 30 miles (50 km) for fixed stations, and 3 – 10 miles (5 – 15 km) for mobile stations. In contrast, the WiFi/802.11 wireless local area network standard is limited in most cases to only 100 – 300 feet (30 – 100m).

Many will think that WiMAX is something similar to WiFi .


but WiMAX is not WiFi…

Now you see the comparison of WiMAX between Wifi. WiMAX is more poweful and speedy. WiMAX can really improve our lifestyle.

As a student, there many restricted to get online at university or college. We can only get online at the library, computer lab and certain area that under WiFi coverage. But, with WiMAX we can get online at every single corner. Imagine you get online while reading under a tree or chit-chat with friends during class. What a enjoyable life… :)

As a bad child that don’t like staying at home, I spend most of my time hanging-out with friends or yamcha (drink tea). We all know that now can get online easily which go buy a cup of coffee at Coffeebean or Starbuck to gain the wifi service. But, with WiMAX we can get online whenever or wherever we want. WiMAX makes our life become more flexible.

Four WiMAX licenses had been gave out in Malaysia which were Asiaspace Dotcom, Bizsurf, Packet One Networks and Redtone-CNX Broadband.
